More About Alarm Sirens
Sirens are an essential component for an alarm system as they not only alert your community to the fact that someone is trying to break into your home, but they also tend to scare away would-be burglars with ear-piercing noise.
There are some sirens that we only recommend using on the inside of your home or business, as they are not weatherproofed to withstand the elements. Most of the time, a siren made for indoor use only will feature a paper or similar material used to make the cone of the siren, and the casing is also not weather-tight. These would include the hardwired SS70H, SS100H, WAVE-2, and WAVE-2EX.
We also carry sirens that can be used indoors or outdoors. These sirens are made of weatherproof materials and siren bodies that are sealed to prevent the elements from entering the siren's interior. They also usually feature plastic or some other resistant material to make up the siren cone. These models include the MG50JR, M85PDS, ELK 150RT, and POT-SSX52. We also carry the above-mentioned indoor/outdoor Potter sirens that have built-in strobe lights. These models include the POT-SSX52SA, POT-SSX52SB, POT-SSX52SC, POT-SSX52SR, POT-SSX82SA, POT-SSX82SB, POT-SSX82SC, and POT-SSX82SR. These sirens not only make a loud noise when an alarm occurs but also give a visual indicator of trouble.
Additionally, we offer a few lower-current draw siren/sounder options, generally meant for interior use as additional sirens or triggered via programmable outputs on a system. They offer numerous uses, such as providing extra loud annunciation to your keypad sounds, or set to trigger based on certain sensors being opened. The PA-100 Piezo sounder is ideal for use with outputs on your system, such as PGMs on the DSC NEO, due to its extremely low current draw. We also have the SS-300 and SH-532BQ, which work well as both additional sirens or sounders.
