Alarm Backup Batteries

Alarm Backup Batteries

Below you'll find both backup batteries for alarm systems as well as replacement batteries for some of the wireless sensors we carry. Backup batteries allow your system to continue to operate for many hours in the event of a power outage. The higher the amperage of the battery, the longer your system will be able to run without AC power.

More About Alarm Backup Batteries

Starting off, we have the BD412 and BD712 backup batteries. These sealed lead-acid batteries can be used for nearly any wired alarm system, and some add-on components for certain systems. In regards to the alarm systems we carry, these batteries work with the DSC NEO, IQ Pro, and Honeywell Vista alarm systems. In addition, they are also used as backup batteries for power supplies for those systems, such as the HSM2204, HSM2300, and Ademco 12612. On top of that, they are also used with the wired-to-wireless translators used with the IQ Panel alarm systems, including the PG9WLSHW8, PG9HRDW8, and the Hardwire 16-F. Keep in mind, the more equipment that is drawing power from your system, the quicker your backup battery will die, so it is generally best to go with a larger battery whenever possible.

The BD412 is a 12-volt 4-amp backup battery, which offers a medium amount of backup time to standard alarm systems. Its smaller size allows multiple to be used within the same cabinet for most systems. Its height, however, does not always allow it to fit in certain modules such as the wired-to-wireless translators mentioned above. The BD712 is a 12-volt 7-amp backup battery and offers a significant amount of backup time to most systems. The BD712 is much longer than the 412, meaning usually only one can fit within most alarm cabinets; however, this is generally more than enough for most systems. The BD712 is the exact size battery needed for the plastic cabinets used with the IQ Pro alarm system, along with the PG9WLSHW8 and PG9HRDW8 wired-to-wireless translators.

In addition to the backup batteries offered, we also carry batteries for most of the wireless sensors we offer. The CR2 and CR123 are both 3-volt lithium batteries and fit in a number of both PowerG and Honeywell wireless sensors. To find the exact battery size you need for your sensor, check that sensor's product page or manual.
