The DSC PGP9986 (also known as the Water Tile) is DSC's newest PowerG + Wireless flood & freeze detector. The PGP9986, as its alternate name suggests, is a slim square "tile" shaped detector that can be installed in spaces that most other flood detectors cannot. There are also a number of accessories that can be used with the PGP9986 to provide more installation options. The Water Tile itself includes water probe electrodes directly on the back of the unit, which allow it to be directly mounted where you need it; however, it can also be used with either an external probe or the new sensing cable designed for these units. When using either the probe or sensing cable, the Water Tile is mounted to a wall bracket, which connects to the external device. The PGP9986's external sensor probe is exactly as it sounds, just a simple wired probe that offers a bit more installation flexibility than the PGP9986 Water Tile itself. The sensing cable, however, offers a brand new way for PowerG + to detect water leaks in your home or business by detecting any water that touches the length of the cable itself. When using the sensing cable, you can essentially set up a water detection barrier around appliances or along the length of multiple appliances if necessary. The sensing cables come in both 6ft and 12 ft lengths to accommodate your needs. In addition to the PGP9986's flood detection features, the Water Tile is able to detect low temperature/freezing conditions to help protect your plumbing or nearby appliances. 

The PGP9986 Water Tile features a single multifunction button used for enrollment, reset, and mute functions, as well as defaulting the device if ever needed. The PGP9986 also features a built-in buzzer for audible alerts directly from the device, so you can easily locate the device and act quickly to prevent water damage. The LED indicator on the Water Tile allows for a clear visual indication of device activation or signal strength using the local test functionality. As with all PowerG + wireless devices, the PGP9986 comes with a slew of new features when used with the appropriate alarm systems. PowerG + wireless offers battery life reporting, 2-factor enrollment for higher security, and over-the-air updates. Additionally, for installers, there is also the new optional dealer lockout feature. PowerG + wireless features are currently available on IQ Panels (IQ4, IQ4HUB & IQ4NS) version 4.6 or higher. When using a PowerG + device like the PGP9986 with other PowerG compatible systems, such as the DSC NEO or IQ Pro, the device enrolls in fallback mode, which still allows the primary features of the device to function, but with some limitations. In the Water Tile's case, the freeze detection and probe disconnected alerts are disabled while in fallback mode. Regardless of the system the PGP9986 is paired with, however, the Water Tile can be used to trigger automation rules for water valves through the IQ Panel's Z-wave functionality or Alarm.com's automation platform, provided you have the service. When paired with water valves like the SWV-100 or the IQ Water Valve, you can force the valve to automatically shut when water is detected by any PGP9986 paired with your system.
