The ADC-VC8498P is a fixed dome camera that is part of Alarm.com's new Prism Series camera lineup. As an 8MP UltraHD dome camera, the VC8498P is very similar to the VC8498PA; however, it does not have the varifocal lens, making it a better choice for indoor operation or smaller coverage areas that do not require a physical zoom. As part of the Prism Series lineup, the VC8498P has received a physical upgrade over previous Alarm.com camera iterations, offering a more durable product. With its IP66 and NEMA 4X ingress protection, the VC8498P is nearly impervious to basic water and corrosion damage and also offers IK10 impact protection. On top of that, the VC8498P is equipped with VividNight Technology, allowing the camera to capture full-color video in light levels as low as 0.02 Lux. This is roughly the equivalent of the light provided by a quarter moon at night, meaning you'll get full color imaging at almost all times so long as there is a slight bit of ambient lighting. If needed, the VC8498P still offers IR up to 40 meters for recording in total darkness in black and white. 

Along with the new updated features offered by the VC8498P, many of Alarm.com's standard video functions are still included. For 24/7 recording, the ADC-VC8498P can be used with both Alarm.com SVRs as well as Onboard Recording using an SD card. Alarm.com's new video analytics rule setup allows easy installation and configuration of the Prism Series cameras. The VC8498P is also compatible with Full Duplex 2-way audio and includes a built-in microphone for basic audio recording. For external outbound audio, a separate speaker must be installed using the line-level input/output provided by the camera. This also allows a separate microphone if desired. Use of the separate speaker and/or microphone allows features like Alarm.com's AID function, or AI Deterrence, which will prompt the camera to use AI to improvise warning messages to potential intruders based on what the camera can view. As with the Pro Series cameras, the Prism Series, including the VC8498P, is able to make full use of Alarm.com's BAA (Business Activity Analytics), such as Occupancy + People Counting, Heat Mapping, and Queue Monitoring if desired.
