More About Honeywell Lynx Touch L7000 Kits

The Honeywell Lynx Touch L7000 is the flagship of Honeywell’s Lynx line of all-in-one wireless alarm system products. The L7000 holds a big 7” touchscreen with large, easy to see and understand icons in an intuitive interface that almost has no need for instructions. The Lynx Touch L7000 has the capacity for just about any residential application, and even many commercial installations, with up to 80 wireless zones. You can have numerous user codes so everyone can have a unique code. And Honeywell has modules available to allow you to add to the already feature packed system by adding cellular communication or Z-Wave to name a couple. The system is a mini-powerhouse and will do a great job protecting your home or business!

The 7” color touchscreen gives you access to the amazing graphic user interface that Honeywell has designed. It has very clear icons that are big enough to be deciphered without straining. It has a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels with 16.7 million vibrant colors. The interface is menu-based and intuitive to use, making the learning curve very easy. The interface extends to the programming: this is one of the easiest alarm systems to program on the market. The front of the L7000 also has two buttons: a home button and an emergency button. The home button allows you to easily return to the main screen from anywhere in the user interface. The emergency button pulls up a menu so that you can quickly set off the alarm in the event of an emergency.

The L7000 features an 80 zone capacity which means plenty of room for expansion. You will be able to fit up to 80 Honeywell 5800 wireless sensors on this system. There are also 24 zones dedicated to keyfobs. Keep in mind that your keychain remotes will take up 1 zone per button that the remotes have. The panel also has the capability to have up to 48 user codes which means that this system is suitable for a home or can be used in a business setting that has a large number of employees. The Lynx Touch also has 1 hardwired zone available on the main board where you can attach simple 2-wire, normally-closed wired switches into it. This gives you the ability to use a hardwire door or window contact.

The L7000 can have peripherals added to it that will allow you to transmit signal to a central station for monitoring, using Honeywell's Total Connect, or both. You can accomplish this by using the GSMVLP5-4G cellular communicator or the L5100-WIFI internet communicator. Also available to be added to the L7000 is the L5100-ZWAVE which is a module that will let you control your Z-Wave Home Automation devices and have them sync with different system functions of the alarm. These Z-Wave devices include thermostats, door locks, lights, and water valves. Honeywell has built in various rules and scenes that can be customized to automate your smart home. The L7000, in conjunction with the L5100-WIFI card, can also let you view your Honeywell IP cameras on the screen of the alarm system as well. This feature supports up to four cameras and they can be viewed one at a time or all four at once.

This panel does not include a landline dialer like the other Lynx panels: the Lynx Plus L3000 and the Lynx Touch L5210. The only way for the L7000 to send alarm communications is through a cellular or IP communicator that must be purchased separately.

We offer four kits for the Lynx Touch L7000. As with all of our alarm system kits, these are generally good for a foundation of your home alarm system and come with many of the basics. You can then build on top of the kit to suit all your needs. The L7000 Kit 1 comes with only the very basics: the L7000 panel, power transformer, backup battery, user guide, installation instructions, and alarm warning decals.

Kit 2 builds on that by adding a few security sensors. Kit 2 comes with one 5800PIR-RES motion detector that features pet immunity up to 80 pounds. It also has two of the 5816 door and window contacts. These have two terminals so that a wired zone can be connected to it.

Kit 3 for the L7000 adds another great component: the 5834-4 wireless keychain remote. It has 4 buttons that you can use to control the system from anywhere within range of the wireless receiver. The buttons allow you to arm the system in stay or away mode, disarm, and set off a panic alarm. The panic button has a 2 second delay feature to reduce false alarms through accidentally pressing the button.

Kit 4 keeps everything from all previous kits and adds a third 5816 door/window contact. This kit could even be sufficient for some small commercial applications.
