How do I add more power for devices on the IQ Pro?

If the amount of modules and powered devices you plan to use exceeds the 700mA limit on the IQ Pro, there are 2 modules you can use to increase the available power. The first is a power-supply-only module called the HSM2300 Power Supply Module. It offers 1A of additional available power to the system. All devices that will be pulling power from the power supply need their wiring routed to the location of the power supply module. Power supplies are a secondary power source, they do not add the additional power to the main system.

The second option, the HSM2204 High Current Output Module offers 4 additional PGMs, or programmable outputs, along with the extra 1A of available power. The first of the 4 additional PGMs is designed to be a secondary bell circuit, offering up to 1A of siren power, although it can also be used to perform any normal PGM function as well. The other 3 PGMs are 500mA outputs, providing more output power than the regular PGMs on the main board, so it opens up a lot of local hardwired automation options.

When using a power supply module with the IQ Pro, you do need to consider that the power supplies will require both their own transformer as well as a backup battery similar to the system. The PTC1640 transformers we carry work well for the power supplies. This generally means it is best to plan on having a secondary cabinet, such as the PC5003c to provide space to house the battery. When deciding on a backup battery size for power supplies it is generally best to match the battery you have in your main panel, and since the IQ Pro primarily fits BD712 batteries we recommend using that for both.
