What’s the difference between ICN and LCD keypads?

While both styles look the same on the surface, they function very differently. The ICN style keypads have a fixed display. This means that they can only display certain numbers and words in predetermined locations on the screen. They can not display custom zone labels or the event log. And the trouble conditions will show as numbers that need to be decoded using the manual.

The LCD style keypads have customizable, full-message displays. This means that they can display any combination of letters and numbers which allows things like custom zone labels and the ability to scroll through the event log. They have an overall better user experience thanks to the improved interface when compared to the ICN style. - Back To Top

Can I program from an ICN keypad?

You can program using an ICN keypad. We don’t recommend doing it though. This is because of the fixed display nature of the keypad. It doesn’t show a large portion of the information while programming. So you won’t be able to see what section you are in or what data you’ve input into the section. The exception to this is the programming sections that use toggle options. The screen will display the numbers 1-8 for the options that are active. However, even in those sections you will get less information than with an LCD style keypad that displays a brief description for each option. If you want to save yourself a lot of headaches as well as adding some functionality to your alarm system, we recommend having at least one LCD style keypad. - Back To Top

How do I enroll additional keypads?

Unlike enrolling the first keypad, which is as simple as pressing a button when prompted, enrolling additional keypads requires going into programming. After enrolling the first keypad follow these steps:

  1. Make sure all keypads that you are wanting to enroll are wired properly to the CORBUS.
  2. On the first keypad that is already enrolled, enter programming with *8 followed by the installer code.
  3. Enter section number 902.
  4. The keypad should already be on subsection 000 so press *.
  5. The control panel will automatically detect and enroll all keypads and modules that are connected to the CORBUS.
  6. You can check the number by KP to make sure that it has detected the correct number of keypads. If not, double-check wiring as well as power draw to make sure that you’re not over-drawing the auxiliary circuit.
  7. Press # a few times to exit programming. - Back To Top

Can I program from an LCD keypad?

The LCD style keypads are preferred for being an economical but user-friendly option for programming as well as through the life of the alarm system. Programming your PowerSeries NEO control panel from an LCD keypad is one of the easiest options out of any hardwired alarm system. Since the LCD style keypads are full message you are able to see where you are in the programming and what data you’ve entered. Also, thanks to improved hardware over the previous PowerSeries generations, the keypad will display brief descriptions for programming sections and subsections as well as toggle options. - Back To Top

Can I program from the HS2TCHP touchscreen keypad?

The HS2TCHP works great for programming. When going into installer programming with it you will have a virtual keypad on the screen that resembles the LCD style keypad. So most of the programming will be on par with that. However, the real programming advantage for the touchscreen keypad is in the custom label programming. Zone labels can be done in a fraction of the time thanks to the on-screen keyboard as opposed to the alphanumeric and word bank label entering found on with the LCD style keypads. - Back To Top
