The new Qolsys IQ5 Wireless Alarm System introduces a new perspective on wireless alarm systems and boasts a slew of new features over its predecessor, the IQ Panel 4. With the improved Android 14 Operating System and its new Qualcomm Dragonwing processor, the IQ Panel 5 delivers a clean, responsive user interface. In addition, the IQ5 system offers 32 Gigabytes of NAND memory, which is double what the previous system generation offered. The Qolsys IQ 5 now also comes with PowerG + wireless technology directly embedded in the main board of the alarm system. By integrating PowerG +, the IQ 5 offers up to 4 times the PowerG wireless range over the IQ Panel 4, and is ready out of the box to provide all of the new features introduced by PowerG +. PowerG + offers several neat features to wireless sensors, such as battery level reporting, two-factor authentication, over-the-air updates, and more. By embedding PowerG into the IQ Panel 5 systems, Qolsys has also improved the modularity of the system. Whereas previous generations of systems needed to be purchased with specific daughter cards built in for alternate SRF wireless frequencies, the IQ5 now only has 2 primary system models. These primary systems come with PowerG + by default, and only differ in their cellular communication path. One, the IQP5018, offering an AT&T SIM, and the other, the IQP5017, offering a Verizon SIM. Since the PowerG Wireless no longer takes a daughter card slot in the system, you are now free to choose which secondary SRF card fits your needs, which leaves the second daughter card slot open for the new Ethernet daughter card, allowing you to directly wire the IQ5 to your internet. Keep in mind, only one SRF card can be used with the IQ5 at a given time; however, you can choose any of the 3 SRF daughter cards: the 319.5MHz card for Qolsys S-Line, the 345MHz card for legacy Honeywell, or the 433MHz card for legacy DSC devices. 

Other changes include the new 13MP portrait view camera for system photos and alarm videos. With a 120-degree field of view, the system will now be able to take photos that offer a better profile view of users disarming the system. In addition, the IQ 5 will be able to record videos during an alarm for up to 4 total minutes, which can give you valuable insight during an alarm condition. While the IQ5 still supports 128 security zones, it is now able to incorporate up to 100 PowerG Automation devices, which offer increased range and security over standard Z-Wave. However, the IQ 5 also now offers Z-Wave Long Range technology, which can be used for including up to 167 standard or Long Range Z-Wave devices. The addition of specific PowerG Automation device slots in the system and Long Range Z-Wave makes turning your home into a fortified Smart Home cheaper and simpler. The IQ5 now comes supplied with 2 2W front-facing speakers and an 85db Piezo Siren for clear audio, whether it be from the panel's voice annunciation, answered video doorbell calls, or the alarm going off. To better assist answering video doorbells, the IQ 5 also includes 2 MEMs (micro electro mechanical system) microphones, which improve the system's voice capture ability as well as improve the built-in glass break detection.

As always, the IQ Panel 5 system has a built-in dual-path communicator for use with Alarm.com self-monitoring and professional monitoring services. Between both the cellular and IP communication paths, the IQ 5 is able to maintain a reliable connection to your services in the event one or the other fails. As mentioned above, for IP, the IQ5 can utilize a direct wired internet connection with the Ethernet daughter card, or it can be connected to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi networks out of the box. Services offered by Alarm.com include basic wireless signal forwarding to an alarm monitoring station, or interactive features, allowing you to control the system remotely and receive notifications via the Alarm.com app. When using Alarm.com cameras with your IQ5, you are able to not only view the cameras via the 7-inch touchscreen, but you can also manually speak through compatible cameras, allowing you to stay on top of your home security and surveillance at any time.
