Loops are basically sub channels of the transmitter. Each loop will be assigned a different function for the same electronic serial number. For instance the 5816WMWH has two loops. Loop 1 is when the 5816 is being used to wire a simple normally-closed hardwired switch into it. Loop 2 is used when the 5816 is going to be used for the open/close for a door or window.
