Enrolling Hardwired Keypads On The IQ Pro

Hey, guys. Hayden here from Alarm System Store again. And today we're going to be installing hardwired keypads, the DSC neo keypads, to the IQ Pro system. So if you are one of those that just needs to see how to wire it or enroll it, you can skip to that part below. All the videos are going to be chaptered with each individual section. However, like I said, what we're going to be going over today is wiring these up. I'll show you how to enroll them within the install wizard, and also how to enroll them outside of the install wizard. If you've already gone past that point. And then I'm going to show you basically what you can do with these keypads. Hard-wired keypads aren't super, you know, in-depth.

On an IQ Pro, you can basically arm and disarm the system. There's a couple things you can look at. Otherwise, though, they're pretty much just an interface to be able to arm the system and get in after you've armed it. So to start with, what you'll need is a small flathead screwdriver. You'll need the installer app so that you can enroll things after you've got them connected. And then you'll need some, 22/4 or 18/4 wire. And that's what you'll use to connect the keypads to the IQ Pro. So, as you can see on the keypad here, each one of these DSC neo keypads is going to have a set of terminals like this. This is how you wire it directly to this is how you wire it to the IQ Pro. So you'll see a, R, B, Y, and G. There's also a P/Z terminal. We'll go over that later. That's for, inputs and outputs. Anyway, for now focus on the R, B, Y and G. So red, blue, red, black, yellow and green. Those are going to be your CORBUS wires. And if you look here on the IQ Pro as well you can see right here there is a CORBUS and it has red black, yellow and green right there.

So that is basically what we are going to be wiring. So you'll take your red, black, yellow or white and green wires and you'll just attach them directly to the same colors that are there. So I'm going to skip through me actually wiring this stuff just because it takes a minute, but basically connect red to red, black to black, so on and so forth. All right. So this is what your CORBUS on the IQ Pro is going to look like. Like I said red black yellow or white and green. The reason I have white I it depends on the wire manufacturer. Some of them are yellow. So like this one, it's red black yellow and green. So don't really worry about the wire colors themselves.

The insullation colors just worry about what wires are connected where. So on that side we'll have the red, black, yellow and green connect to the CORBUS. And then on the key keypad we're going to do the same here. All right. So this is what it will look like on the keypad. And like I said red black yellow and green. Just make sure you get the colors of the wire matched up the same on both sides. And then you'll be good to go. And now, this keypad I've already had wired up. This is one we use for testing a lot. So I'm just going to connect this to the CORBUS real quick. And whenever you're wiring, something on a desk or really any alarm system, generally what I like to do is after I have the first, keypad or module connected, basically just loosen up each terminal, slide the new wire in, and then tighten that one back down. Having all the other wire terminals tightened is going to help you keep the rest of the wires in place. So you only have to worry about all the red wires or all the black wires at any given time. So.

Now you want to do all your wiring for this before you power up the system. So as you can see, our transformers just sitting here, I'm going to go ahead and plug it in. Now that we have our keypad connected. And once the system boots up you'll see power is going to get to the keypad. However they are going to give faults basically because they can't connect to the system because the system doesn't know they're supposed to exist yet. So that's why we have to enroll them. While that's booting up, you can go ahead and pull up your installer app like I have here. And then over here on the left side, like I mentioned, you'll have this white cover and it's going to be sitting over top of this right here. For me, I just have it off to the side just because the, screwdrivers we have are kind of fat, so they don't really fit down in those terminals very well.

If you get faults on your keypads, you can just hit the pound button to silence them on the touch screen. You can just hit the button there a couple times. And over here, once we have our installer out pulled up, click continue. Now we're going to scan the QR code for the system and then click continue. Now you need to hold the button on the side of the main board here. All right. So generally you get those red flashes first and then it should go blue here in just a second. Also if you're like me and always have the location on your phone turned off, turn it on before you do this. And then just click continue. And as long as that blue light is flashing like that kind of a fast flash, it should pretty quickly pick up the IQ Pro, click on the IQ net that is the Wi-Fi network for this device, and then you're going to enter your access code. So if you've already done this before and you've been through the installer wizard, you'll have to enter the access code that you changed. Or you'll need the installer or the dealer code. So I change the dealer code before I set it to 5555. So once I do that, it brings up the dashboard here. So next we are going to like I said I'm going to show you how to do this in the install wizard.

And then I'm going to show you how to do it. If you're not, if you're already past the install wizard and you don't want to go back through the whole thing again. So while you're in the install wizard, this part you do have to wait through. But basically I'm just trying to skip to the security section. So once this goes through and it does, this checks and fails, then I will move on and I will show you how to enroll these keypads. All right. So now that that has failed, we're going to go over to the security tab here. So like I mentioned in like the overview video, if you click the plus button down here in the bottom right, it's going to bring up the auto learn option. And now that we have these two keypads wired into the system, all you have to do is click Auto Learn right there. And then it'll say start auto learn. It says please press and hold, blah blah blah. So let's talking about wireless devices. So don't really pay attention to that. Just click Start Auto learn. And as you can see the keypad is almost immediately connected. And that's because they have a wired direct connection to the panel. And it knows that once it's in auto learn mode, it just needs to find any modules that you have wired up.

So now these keypads are technically enrolled. Now over here, however, you do have to, configure the keypads through the installer app. So you're going to click on keypad one, which it shows you a picture of which ones which. So keypad one is going to be the touchscreen. Click on the keypad that you want to configure. And then it's going to ask you a few different things here. So it'll give you the ID for the keypad. So you can make sure which ones which sensor type keypad obviously sensor group. So you have multiple options on the IQ Pro for different keypads. Some of them you might want to be fixed, some of you might want to carry around with you. So like the IQ, the wireless remotes, for the IQ panels, you can have those on stands and you can take them to any room in your house if you want to. So that can be a mobile intrusion. The other options are all described in the install manual. So if you want to read that, you can choose which one's going to work best for you. The tamper option is toggle option here so you can turn on keypad tampers. Generally there is one on the back. So right here this is the keypad tamper for like the touch screen.

So basically when this is pushed up against the wall it pushes on this button right here. And as long as it's pushed, the tamper will be happy. If it gets pulled off the wall though, that tamper button is going to release and it's going to show a tamper. Most people don't actually use tampers for their keypads, but it's totally optional. You can do whatever you want. Keypad input. That is for the terminal that I showed before. And we're going to go into into that more in depth later. So you don't have to mess with that. But you can turn that on there if you want to. The voice prompts, if your keypad is a voice keypad, meaning if the part number has a V in the name, then it is a voice keypad.

And those are not actually made for the DSC neo anymore because nobody ever bought them. So generally you can just leave that off. However, for the wireless IQ remotes, you will want the voice prompts on because those are able to talk to you. So you can also decide whether or not this keypad is going to be able to bypass sensors or not. And then if you have temperature sensors enrolled right here, temperature sensors have the option of displaying on these keypads so you can set the indoor temp sensor and outdoor temp sensor if you have those enrolled to the panel already. Some of this, you're going to want to come back and do, after you have all the rest of your devices connected or whatever. So you don't have to configure everything right away. But you do have to at least open this page and click save so that it shows configured. So you can see the second keypad doesn't show configured. You don't even have to do anything. Just open it, click save. And now it'll show configured. And you can move on to whatever else you're going to do.

All the options you saw there are changeable at any time, as long as you have the installer ramp and you have the installer or dealer code. So now we're just going to back out. So because I enrolled in RF keypad, the IQ Pro technically gives you the option of, changing which receiver you're going to use. Like I said, generally you're going to want to use the receiver that's in the panel because it's kind of designed for that. However, if you have your panel, like put in a basement or if you want to, have this somewhere that is further away from all your wireless sensors than, say, a keypad would be, you could reboot the panel and you want it. Yeah. Click yes. Perform this action, and then it will actually change the receiver to this one. So that's where all the wireless sensors are going to try and connect to. So you can do that or not totally up to you. If not, just click the back arrow up here again. And then we're just going to kind of back out of that. And then I'm going to skip through the rest of the install wizard and move on to the next thing.

So now that we have the keypads enrolled, I do have to go in and delete them real quick, and then I'll show you how to enroll them. If you aren't using the installer wizard. So give me one second and I'll be right back. All right. So those of you that are not using the install wizard, I'm going to show you how to go in through the dashboard. Basically of the IQ installer. And after you have it connected and you still have to go through the steps to connect the installer app. So, scan your QR code, hit the button over here on the side of the panel. That whole bit that was showed it in the overview video. But now if you've already been through the install wizard, you're going to get the dashboard for your IQ Pro.

So from here, since our keypads aren't connected anymore, click the configure button down here on the bottom left. And the second option there in your row menus. And then you're going to click installation here under installation click Devices Security Sensors. And then again you'll have something very similar to the security page that you saw while you were in the install wizard. So click plus and then click Auto Learn and then click Start Auto Learn. And IQ Pro is going to go through. And it's going to automatically connect both keypads because they're wired in. Now as I went over for the other method that I showed, you have to go through and you have to configure all of the devices that you connect. So I'm going to go through it real quick again. But basically under each keypad Emma does show a picture of the keypads that you're going to have. So keypad one is the touchscreen. It's going to give you the ID sensor type center group. You can select different sensor groups. All these are covered in the reference manual.

If you want to read through and see what each one means. Fixed intrusion is the standard though, so you can just leave that. You can toggle on and off the tamper. You can toggle on and off the keypad input, which as I mentioned, will go over in a later video. You can change the sensor name right here. You can make the name whatever you want. You can change it to master room, keypad, downstairs keypad, blah blah blah. Decide what you want to name it. You won't really see the names of your keypads. The only time it's really useful is if you're in here and you need to adjust anything. But anyway, voice prompts, you can leave on, these wired keypads, they don't make a voice keypad for them anymore.

However, if you have a Neo keypad that has a V in the part number that does have voice capability, so you can toggle that on and off, you can toggle on and off whether this keypad is going to be able to bypass sensors, which basically means turn those sensors off for an arming period. So decide that generally, you want to leave it on. And then the last two options there, if you have temp sensors enrolled, you can set which one is basically monitoring. You're inside the, temperature and which ones doing your outside temperature. You can have those display on the keypads if you want to, but click save there when you're done. And like I mentioned before, the keypads, once they're configured, they do show configured there.

And you have to configure each one. Otherwise, it's going to want you to go back in and do it again. So basically you don't have to change anything if you just want to leave it all default. You can just click on it, click save, and then you're done. So once that is done you just click the back arrow. It's going to ask if you want to cancel the auto. Learn and then just continue backing out until you get back to your dashboard. So now we have both keypads showing enrolled and as normal. Since we don't have any zones or anything hooked up, like I mentioned before, this is going to have zones plugged into it by default for these first eight zones that are on the board. So if you don't have any wired sensors, you do have to go through and delete those. That's the next video we're going to cover. We're going to show how to wire up, zones and so on. And so forth. But for now, just know that both of these keypads are enrolled and are ready to use. So I'm going to go ahead and close the install ramp, and then I'll show you guys a little bit about what these keypads can do.

It's not super in-depth like I mentioned. But anyway, for these touchscreens, the way they work, this top button here, if you click that, that is going to start the arming countdown. So I'll go ahead and do that. But basically, it's just trying to calm the system right now. So your exit delay is going to start. You can click disarm, type in your master code, and that'll help you disarm the panel. If you didn't mean to do that, you can also stay calm there. You'll see up here, whatever the arming method that the system tries to go into is going to display right here, generally, it's going to want to arm away. However, you can click stay Arm right there. You can click the zone status and it'll show you the zones that are on your panel. You can turn on and off the chime. So I just turned it off. Turn it back on. If you have an output set up generally this would be for smoke detectors. So if you have wired smokes and they've been triggered you have to press that. And basically what it does is it resets your smoke detectors. We'll cover that when we talk about smokes. And there's a quick exit and the photos feature, you can read a little bit more about those in the manuals for the keypad, but otherwise, that is the mainly what you can do here. You can check troubles as well. So up here on the side you'll see the yellow triangle. Click on that. It shows all the troubles. Basically, this is going to have a lot of troubles while I'm doing all these short videos because I'm not going to have a whole system connected.

But once you do have your whole system connected, make sure you check those troubles and clear any before you start, using the system, because those troubles are trying to tell you something's wrong and it needs fixed. So, same thing for the, button style keypad. Let me pull this down here. And basically with the button styles, they don't have, like different menus like that. So you'll just see, it has a trouble. It's ready to arm, but then it goes through all the open zones. You can scroll using the arrow keys if you want to. And if you want to arm on one of these keypads, you can hold either the stay or the away button and it will start the countdown. Or you can just type in your code. So if I just type in one, two, three, four, it's going to start the arming countdown. Now on the button style keypads, there's not a prompt to start the disarm. You just type in your code again and it will automatically disarm the system. And the chime button is over here. Hold that for a couple seconds. It turns on and off the chime.

And then you have a reset button here. It's the same as the output two that I mentioned. If you have wired smokes connected and they've been triggered, you need to hold the reset button here to reset your smoke detectors. And the exit button is the same as the quick exit. That's for use during arming. If you have it stay armed, you can hold the exit button and it's going to give you two minutes to open and close one delay door so we can kind of go over that, maybe in a different video, but now most people are going to use that, for this, you do also have the ability to trigger panics through the keypads. So up here on the touchscreen, the emergency button here, if you click that, it'll let you choose which of the types of panics that you would like to set off. Down here, you have to hold the two buttons related to the one that you want to do. So if I wanted to set off a fire panic, you hold down the two fire buttons there for two seconds and then it will trigger a fire panic. And now there isn't really a whole lot else you can do on these keypads. With the DSC neo, you can kind of you program it through the keypads, basically, so everything can be done on here. However, when used with an IQ Pro, like I said, it's basically just an interface to arm and disarm the system. So that's really it.

I won't go into much more in-depth just because this is kind of an intro video for those just setting up their system. But basically, that is what you need to do. Wire up the keypads while the system is powered down, power up the system, and then enroll your keypads through the IQ installer app. It's pretty straightforward. However, there are a few steps to it, so, hopefully, that covers everything for you guys. If you do have any specific questions regarding enrolling keypads, by all means, let us know. Like I said, we're going to do wireless keypads here soon, and you guys can see how to set up zones and stuff. So keep an eye out on this playlist and we will be back with much, much more info. So anyway, that's going to do it for me. Hope that was informative. If you guys want to check out like IQ Pro or any of the equipment that you might need for it, you can check out alarm systems. Broadcom now we have all the systems, all the different keypads, all the modules, wireless sensors, so on and so forth. Anyway, if you guys don't mind leave a like and subscribe comment down below if you have questions.

And I will catch you guys on the next one.
