How do I fix a general system tamper on the DSC 1616, 1832, and 1864 systems?

<Back

A general system tamper is caused by a module, such as a PC5108 zone expander, having an open tamper circuit. This is a commonly overlooked feature of the modules. Usually people will not use an actual tamper switch on their modules, especially if they are already put into the can with the main control panel and it already has a tamper switch on the main system. But you may want to consider using a tamper switch if it is not protected by one.

To resolve this, either add a tamper switch to the TAM and BLK terminals and close the cabinet or jumper those terminals with a regular piece of wire. This will close that circuit and clear the trouble condition. You will need to do this on all modules.
