Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera - Skybell HD ADC-VDB101 and ADC-VDB102
Alarm.com and SkyBell have teamed up to offer the Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera: SkyBell HD Edition. Available in Satin Nickel ADC-VDB101, and Bronze ADC-VDB102. It is a video doobell that wires directly to any existing doorbell chimes (a digital doorbell adapter is required for a digital chime). It has an HD camera with full color night vision, speaker, and microphone to allow you to remotely speak to whoever may be at your front door with video and two-way voice over your home WiFi to your mobile device on the Alarm.com app. It is made ruggedly to handle its outdoor use: water and humidity resistant and can be used in temperatures as low as -40° Fahrenheit to as high as 140° Fahrenheit. The doorbell camera has been fully integrated into Alarm.com so that you can take advantage of all of their smart home security features. The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera does require their Alarm.com Pro Video Service and counts toward the camera limit on your account.
The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera has an HD camera that can be viewed in up to 1080p quality with a full 180 degree viewing angle. The camera can also be viewed using color night vision using multi-color LEDs in low light situations. This gives you a much more detailed view than traditional black and white night vision. The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera also has a motion sensor that senses motion up to 8 feet away so that you can always know if someone is at your door even if they do not press the button to announce their presence. The main button also features an indicator LED that can be used to quickly determine the state of the Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera. This is incredibly useful for installation and troubleshooting. The default color of the LED can be customized with millions of color combinations. It also has a speaker and omni-directional microphone so that you can talk to whoever is at your door from your Alarm.com app using two-way voice. The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera communicates over your homes Wi-Fi network and is always connected. We recommend you have an upload speed of at least 1.5Mbps. You can test it at speedtest.net by using a mobile device connected to your Wi-Fi at the location where you will be installing the device. The maintenance of the doorbell camera is low cost since the batteries will give you three to five years of life. The battery is only for power regulation; it is not designed to be the sole power source.
Not only are all those features available for use at the same place as your other smart home and security features, but the doorbell camera has been integrated with Alarm.com synergistically: making the combination of the doorbell camera and Alarm.coms Interactive Services better than the sum of its parts. The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera can be used in conjunction with home automation and can take advantage of Alarm.coms rules engine. This allows you to customize your smart home with the doorbell camera in all the ways that you could with your other home automation and alarm system components. You can set the camera to record clips based on four criteria: schedule, button presses, motion detection, and system events such as alarms or sensor activity. Just like with any other Alarm.com cameras, you can look at video on-demand with a live peek-in or view any recorded clips at any time. You can be notified of activity at your door from the button as well as the motion detector. And you can set up custom lighting rules for that activity as well to turn on lights when activity is detected. You can even unlock your door directly from the doorbell camera screen in your Alarm.com app if you want to let your visitor in. The Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera also has silent mode that will silence the doorbell chime if the button is pressed, but still notify you on your mobile device. This is a great feature if you have a young child (or anyone else) that is sleeping and you do not want to disturb them.
Installation and syncing of the Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera is quick and easy. Keep in mind that the doorbell camera has a larger footprint and will require more space than your standard doorbell. It has a diameter of 2.8 inches, so make sure that you have enough space to install it. Once you confirm that you have a spot to install it, you just have a few simple steps:
1. Remove your old doorbell.
2. Install the mounting plate with the doorbell wires going through the center.
3. Attach the wires to the screw terminals on the mounting plate.
4. Attach the doorbell camera with the top first. Tighten the set screw at the bottom. The doorbell camera should begin powering up.
5. If the LED is flashing blue and red that means that the battery is charging. Allow it some time to charge before going through the syncing process. Once the LED is flashing green and red, you can begin syncing to Alarm.com.
Syncing the Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera is another quick task that can be done from your mobile device on your Alarm.com app. Once you are on your Alarm.com app here are the steps to sync your doorbell camera:
1. Go to the Doorbell Camera tab.
2. Click + Add A Doorbell Camera.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Connect to the doorbell cameras temporary Wi-Fi access point. Note: the process to do this differs for Android and iOS.
Android: Do not leave the app. The Alarm.com app detects the doorbell cameras network automatically.
iOS: Leave the app and go to your settings. Go to your Wi-Fi settings and choose the Wi-Fi network named SkybellHD_##########. (The ########## corresponds to the serial number of the doorbell camera.)
5. In the Alarm.com app, select your homes Wi-Fi network and configure the network settings including the password.
6. The doorbell camera will go through some automated installation steps. You can track the progress using the LED indicators. It should flash orange twice for about 30 seconds. Then alternate between a blue and green light for another 30 seconds. Finally it will show a solid green light when finished.
We recommend enabling push notifications for your doorbell camera because this is the quickest way for you to be notified of activity. And you can also go through and set up recording schedules and other automation rules as well.
