Alarm Communicators

Alarm Communicators

Many alarm systems include a landline-based communicator built in; however, landlines are becoming increasingly rare nowadays as they are being regularly replaced by digital phone lines, which are typically unreliable when used with alarm systems. The communicators you'll find below instead use cellular signal and/or the internet to provide reliable communication for both self-monitoring and professional monitoring applications.

More About Alarm Communicators

Here at Alarm System Store, we strive to give our customers the best options available. Alarm communicators are no exception to this. We realize that more and more people are moving away from landline telephone communication, with many new constructions not even putting it in as an option. Alarm communication is no different. Whether you want to self-monitor, communicate to a central station, or a combination of the two, we have a communicator for you. We offer model-specific communicators through Alarm.com for high-quality integration and brand-specific communicators for the systems we carry. We also offer a variety of universal communicator options from Alula and Uplink.

By far, the most popular communicators we offer are Alarm.com communicators. Alarm.com has made communicator installation and activation nearly plug-and-play while offering some of the highest quality services to date, which makes them a great option for DIYers. Many of these communicators are designed for specific alarm systems to ensure they provide the most integrated experience Alarm.com can offer. These communicator models are dual-path communicators, meaning they use both cellular and IP connections, so that if one or the other is lost, the communicators will stay connected to your services. Alarm.com communicators come in both AT&T and Verizon models, meaning you can choose whichever cell network will provide the best signal in your area with no difference in cost. In addition, Alarm.com communicators include a built-in Z-Wave card, which you can use for home automation with smart devices. When using Alarm.com communicators, you have the option of self-monitoring your system via an app, while also being able to have your system monitored by a Central Station if you desire. Alarm.com services offer numerous plan options for both residential and commercial locations, allowing you to control what features you are paying for. We carry communicators for all of the alarm systems we carry, including the DSC NEO and the Honeywell Vista series. Systems like the IQ Panel 4s and IQ Pro also include built-in Alarm.com communicators, providing an easier installation process.

We offer a couple of communicators from Alula as well. Alula, formerly IP Datatel, communicators are essentially universal communicators that have built-in programming to integrate better with a list of compatible alarm systems. These communicators work great for older alarm systems such as Interlogix panels, Napco panels, and the DSC PowerSeries panels. Alula communicators offer multiple communication paths as well, including cell, Ethernet, and Wi-fi, depending on the model. Alula services offer self-monitoring via the Alula app, as well as the ability to send signals to a Central Station.

Both DSC and Honeywell offer their own cell and IP communicators. DSC communicators typically use their Connect 24 communication service to signal forward to a monitoring center, while Honeywell communicators utilize Alarmnet for both their Total Connect app service and signal forwarding. These communicators generally require a bit more knowledge of the alarm systems themselves to be able to fully utilize them, but they are a reliable option if you know what you're doing.

We also carry a selection of true universal communicators from Uplink, the original cellular communication provider for alarm systems. These units include dual SIM cards for AT&T and Verizon, meaning the unit is able to operate on the best network, no matter your location. Uplink communicators can be connected to an alarm system using inputs as a trigger, or dial capture if your panel supports it. Being able to use inputs for signalling makes the Uplink communicators extremely versatile, allowing them to be used with alarm systems that you no longer have the installer code for, simply by connecting them to your system's bell circuit. They can also be used for any application able to provide an output trigger. Uplink communicators are able to directly notify you, or they may be connected to a Central Station for signal forwarding.
