Interlogix TXE401 Wireless Tilt Sensor

The Interlogix TXE401 is a wireless tilt switch transmitter that can be used on an overhead garage door. If you want to arm your garage door to catch any criminals that might enter through it or you just want to be notified that the garage door is open; the TXE401 can do the job. The tilt sensor measures 3.5 x 1.0 x 0.87 in. and is easily installed anywhere on the garage door. The battery life of these transmitters is, on average, 5 years because of the long-life lithium batteries that they use. This particular sensor uses a CR123A Lithium battery. This sensor operates on Interlogix crystal frequency of 319MHz and its signal can travel up to 500-600 feet back to the wireless receiver. Because garages arent usually heated; the TXE401 has an impressive temperature range it can operate in. You can use this sensor in temperatures ranging from -22F (-30C) to 120F (49C). The TXE401 has a slow loop response so that it wont trigger false alarms due to wind blowing it around or other environmental occurrences that would cause it to tilt naturally.

You will place the sensor at the top of the garage door and when the garage door is raised past a certain degree; the sensor will transmit an open to the Interlogix alarm panel that you are using. This only is a one piece unit. You do not have to install a magnet to use this. The sensor contains a ball type sensor in it and when the door is tilted past a 45 degree angle it will trigger. This sensor also has a tamper button and will trigger a response when the cover is removed. You will get screws and double-sided mounting tape and you can use one or the other or both while installing the sensor on the garage door. If you use the tape then it is recommended that the temperature be above 50 degrees and will remain above 50 degrees for 24 hours to maintain a good bond.

The TXE401 will work with any Interlogix panel with wireless capability. These panels include the NX-4, the NX-6, the NX-8, the NX-8E, the Simon XT and the Simon XTi-5. To use these with the NetworX Series security systems you will have to have either the NX548E wireless receiver or a hardwired keypad that has a built-in wireless receiver such as the NX148ERF. These wireless receivers will let you use not only the TXE401, but it will also let you use all of Interlogix other wireless transmitters like the TXE221 wireless recessed door/window transmitter or the NX480 wireless motion detector.

You could also use one of the Alarm.com cellular communicators such as the NX-592E-CDMA-ZX-VZ and sign up for Alarm.com Interactive Services and then you could integrate the TXE401 with some sort of Z-Wave garage door opener. This way youll be able to know when the garage door is open and you could remotely close it using your Alarm.com app. The alarm industry is moving towards a whole home control solution.
