The GoControl WL00Z-1 is a water flow detection device can be used to monitor the flow of water through the pipes in your home or business. This will allow you to be alerted when there is a leak or someone's left the water on via a faucet, etc. It contains 500 Series A-Wave module. This is Z-Wave ready so it can communicate with a Z-Wave control and, therefore, activate devices that would shut the water supply off so as to avoid situations like a leak. The WL00Z-1 will accommodate copper pipes of 1/2" to 1 1/2". You will be able to program this unit to monitor for water flow at times when no water flow is expected such as if you go on vacation and turn your water off while you're gone.
The installation of this device is pretty simple. You'll insert the sensor strip underneath the foam insulation pipe covering and the module will actually strap on over top of the foam insulation covering. You'll then plug the sensor strip into the module. This will only work to monitor water flow in copper pipes and can only be installed indoors. After attaching the sensor and the module to the pipe you'll plug the module into a 120VAC outlet. You will then have to calibrate the device to detect the water flow by turning off the water supply at the nearest valve to the entrance of the home. You'll then press the calibrate button and wait for the process to complete. After that is finsihed you'll turn the water back on.
The only thing left after the install and calibration is to add the WL00Z-1 to your local Z-Wave network. You will do this by putting your control into Add Mode and then press the Learn button on the WL00Z-1 and the green light will blink slowly until it learns into the Z-Wave network. It will turn solid when it does.
The WL00Z-1 can help you save money in the long run by helping prevent flooding. If you can use compatible water shut off valves, such as the Fortrezz WV-01 Z-Wave Indoor Automated Water Shut-off Valve, you can have the water flow sensor send a signal to a Z-Wave controller that will, in turn, send a signal to the shut off valve if there is an abnormality.
