DSC PowerSeries NEO HS2016NKCP01 Board and Cabinet

$79.95

Quick Overview

The HS2016 is the DSC NEO's smallest panel, allowing you only up to 16 zones. This panel is great if you have a smaller building to protect with just a few burglary sensors or a string of smoke detectors. Most homes will require at least an HS2032 NEO to effectively cover the home properly.

PowerSeries NEO is DSC's newest line of quality security systems that offers a wide range of hardwired solutions and DSC's new PowerG series of wireless devices. This makes the PowerSeries NEO the most comprehensive hybrid security system in the industry. The NEO systems can be used in residential applications or can also be scaled up to meet large commercial applications.

The HS2016NK Board and Cabinet is the entry-level end of the NEO spectrum. It is a perfect size for a small to medium-sized home installation. The HS2016 starts with 6 hard-wired zones built into the panel. From there, the HS2016 can be expanded up to 16 hard-wired zones. This is done using a combination of DSC's HSM2108 zone expander module and keypad zones. The HS2108 adds 8 additional hard-wired zones. Those zones with the 6 built-in zones will bring the total available hard-wired zones to 14. Each keypad also has a built-in hard-wired zone that can be used. With 2 keypads, you can bring your total hard-wired zone count to the 16 that is possible on the HS2016.

Since the PowerSeries NEO is a hybrid system, you can even add wireless devices to the system. Keep in mind that you will need to add either an HS2HOST9 PowerG transceiver or a keypad with a built-in PowerG transceiver. There are quite a few models of keypads with the built-in transceiver. There are a few pros and cons to each. The keypad with the built-in transceiver is often the better deal since you get what amounts to a 2-for-1 deal. However, if you already have the keypads you need, then the HS2HOST9 may be the better deal. You can also often place the HS2HOST9 in the optimal location for your wireless receiving because you are not limited to placing the transceiver to your keypad locations. This may not be a big deal, thanks to PowerG's exceptional industry-leading wireless range. It has a line-of-sight range of 1.24 miles (2 kilometers). On the HS2016, you can have up to 16 wireless zones. So you can have any combination of hard-wired and wireless zones that add up to 16. For instance, you can use 5 of the hard-wired zones built onto the panel and then add 11 wireless zones through a PowerG transceiver. This would bring the total number of zones to the capacity of 16 on the HS2016.

Besides wireless devices such as door/window contacts and smoke detectors that take up wireless zones on the HS2016, the PowerG transceivers will allow you to add wireless keys, sirens, and keypads. These components do not require being assigned to zones. The HS2016 can hold up to 16 wireless keys, such as the PG9929. If you need additional sirens, The HS2016 will give you access to up to 4 wireless PowerG sirens, such as their outdoor PG9911B. The panel can also accommodate any combination of wireless (HS2LCDWF9, HS2LCDWFP9, and HS2LCDWFPV9) or hard-wired keypads up to 8.

Also on the HS2016 are 2 PGM output terminals. PGM 1 is a low-current output (30mA), and PGM 2 is a high-current output (300mA). The most common use for PGM outputs is for the sensor reset on 2-wire and 4-wire smoke detectors, but they have many potential uses. You can expand the system using 2 of the HSM2208, which have 8 low-current PGM outputs that draw power from the panel. You can also use an HSM2204 with 4 high-current PGM outputs and provide 1A of additional power. The HSM2204 must be used with its power transformer and backup battery.

This version of the HS2016NK is CP01 compliant and has all the fail-safes to help protect against false alarms. This means that you cannot pick values for some programming sections outside a certain range, such as the entry/exit delays, to prevent false alarms due to extremely short entry delays.

Keep in mind that this is the board and cabinet only, and you will need a transformer, backup battery, and keypad at the very least to go with it.
